Eight Coaches Earn USA Boxing Gold Level Coaching Certifications

USA Boxing announced eight individuals earned their Gold Level Coaching Certification through the inaugural USA Boxing Gold Level Coaching Certification Course.

Sean Apperson, Farrel Brenner, Alexander Dugue, Stephen Grand, Bruce Hoyer, Rajesh Kumaran, Mai Phan and Edson Rocha earned their USA Boxing Gold Level Coaching Certifications following a week-long clinic at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center. The seven-day clinic featured coaching education for international competition tactics, strength and conditioning, nutrition and injury prevention and maintenance.

USA Boxing will host its second Gold Level Coaching Certification Course Oct. 12-19, 2025, at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The course will once again highlight preparation of athletes for international competitions and will serve as a pathway for coaches to become eligible to work with USA Boxing’s High Performance Teams. The third and final Gold Level Coaching Certification Course of 2025 will be held Oct. 26, through Nov. 2.


Entry into the Gold Level Coaching Certification Course is an application-based process, as each clinic will have a maximum capacity of eight coaches. The selected coaches will be invited to Colorado Springs to learn from USA Boxing’s National Coaches and High Performance staff throughout a week-long period. The cost of the clinic is $1,000 per participant, which includes housing and meals at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center. Flights to Colorado springs will be the responsibility of the registered coaches.


Applications for the second and third Gold Certification Coaching Course will open on May 15, 2025, and will close on June 15, 2025, at 5 p.m. MT. Payment for registration will be required once applications are approved.


To be eligible to take the USA Boxing Gold Level Coaching Certification Course, coaches must complete the following prerequisites:

- USA Boxing Silver Level Certification

- USA Boxing Nutrition Certification: LINKED HERE

To begin your application, please follow the instructions below:

- Go to usaboxingeducation.org

- Sign in using your membership login (if your membership is not current, you will not be able to access the website)

- Select the “Coaches” tab from the menu options

- The Gold Application page will only be available if you meet all three requirements listed above
