Mannie Chance Continues His U19 Run and Secures A Medal

Team USA secures another medal as Emmanuel Chance (East Orange N.J.) moves on to the medal round and earned at least a bronze medal.


In a anticipated bout against Yerassyl Amangaliyev out of Kazakhstan, Mannie earned a hard fought victory on a 3-2 split decision. Chacne lost the first and second round, both being judged 3-2 and fought back in the final round and won all five judges scorecards in the third round and came out with the victory.


Chance advances to the medal round but knows his job is not done yet. He will face Pal Krrish out of India. The winner will move on to the finals and a chance for gold.

Team USA will have seven medal bouts on October 30 starting off with Lorenzo Patricio (Waianae, Hawaii) as he will face Rishi Singh out of India. Following Patricio is Mannie Chance in bout 3 against Pal Krrish out of India.


In bout five Laila Zakirova (Staten Island, N.Y.) will face Nisha Nisha from India and looks to punch her ticket to the finals and a chance at gold. Nevaeh Williams (Cleveland, Ohio) will make her 2024 World Boxing U19 Championships debut in bout six and will go up against Aaliyah Hoppema out of the Netherlands. Williams recieved a bye which put her in the medal round and will look to pick up a win and advance to the finals for gold.

Joseph Awinongya (Jouliet, Ill.) and Elijah Lugo (Marietta, Ga.). will also make their second appearance and look for a similar result as their debut as both American boxers ended their bouts with an RSC. Awinongya will box Mustapha Abdou out of Algeria, and Lugo will go head-to-head with Sofian Bizzit out of Germany.

Heavyweight, Rishon Sims (Harrisburg, Pa.) will face Noveki Tomokino from Australia in hopes of going to the finals.


Ticket pricing for the 2024 World Boxing U19 Championships begins at $10 for a single-day pass or $50 for an all-week pass. Fans can also purchase tickets exclusively for Saturday's finals at the price of $25.

USA Boxing will be led by National Development coach Chad Wigle (Colorado Springs, Colo.). Assisting Wigle will be three assistant coaches in Danilo Garcia (Oakland, Calif.), Edward Fonteneaux (Fayetteville, N.C.), and Blanca Gutierrez (Pacifica, Calif.).
