Shamiracle Hardaway’s Path to Greatness

by Luke Santangelo

Eighteen-year-old, Shamiracle Hardaway is making a name for herself in the boxing world through her hard work and passion. Growing up in Lagrange, Ga., her parents, Randy and Shantra Hardaway, were role models to Shamiracle and demonstrated a strong work ethic while paving the way to her success by making her mentally tough at a young age.

Whether it was her dad coaching at the boxing gym or her mom working at the hotel, Shamiracle noticed her father and mother's hard work through various avenues, laying a foundation of a strong work ethic and dedication. It is those virtues that her parents exhibited that motivates Shamiracle in the ring to this day.

“I’m a workaholic, and I like to think that’s because of my parents,” Shamiracle reflects. "I would go to my dad’s boxing practice and sit there in the gym watching him coach as my mom works at the hotel. You have to earn your goals and that is something my parents taught me.”

Shamiracle laced up her gloves for the first time when she was just six years old. As she reflects on the early stage of her career and watching her dad coach others before eventually becoming her boxing coach, she quickly realized that her father paved the way for her success while keeping her disciplined. Her parents’ guidance has not only motivated her but has also inspired her to consistently push her limits.

Shamiracle grew up in a big household with five siblings. Growing up in a large family caused her to be pushed by her younger sister, Dymond. Her 16-year-old sister is one of her biggest supporters but also someone who pushes Shamiracle to her limits. Dymond is a boxer as well and just two years younger than Shamiracle, creating a competitive relationship that positively motivates the two. Their relationship is loving and caring but the moment they lace up the gloves, there is always a drive between the two that motivates each one to best the other.

“She pushes me to be the best boxer I can be,” Shamiracle states of her sister Dymond. “If I go 100%, she will go 110% and then if she one-ups me then I will maximize my capability and try and one up her.”

The hard work is paying off as last year, Shamiracle earned a spot on the Youth High Performance Team, representing Team USA in Germany, where she secured a bronze medal.

This year, she has her sights set on the 2024 World Boxing U19 Championships, where she will compete at 60 kg. Shamiracle is more motivated than ever and ready to take on the world.

“Germany taught me so much about fighting on an international level,” she shares. “I won bronze, and I am proud of myself, but it left kind of a sour taste in my mouth because I wanted gold. So, now for the World Championships I am more motivated and have a better understanding for international fights.”

Shamiracle remains grounded in the values her parents have instilled in her. With her family's unwavering support, Shamiracle Haradway is poised to make a name for herself in boxing.
