The 2024 USA Boxing National Championships are just five days away and will be hosted inside the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, Va. The event, which marks the beginning of a new Olympic cycle for the competitors in attendance, begins on Monday, Dec. 16, and continues through finals competition on Saturday, Dec. 21. Next week’s 2024 USA Boxing National Championships marks the first step on the journey to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games for many of the event’s boxers. Additionally, the 2024 USA Boxing National Championships will crown many champions who will then advance in the process to earn a spot on Team USA’s 2025 High Performance team.

The women’s elite weight class is highlighted by five Olympians, four of which recently competed at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Jennifer Lozano (51kg), Alyssa Mendoza (57kg), Jajaira Gonzalez (60kg) and Morelle McCane (65kg) represented Team USA in Paris over the summer, while Naomi Graham (75kg) represented the Stars and Stripes at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Another notable female competitor among the Elite division is Christine Forkins (70kg), who was crowned the champion in her weight class at the 2023 U.S. Olympic Trials. Additionally, fans should keep an eye on the women’s 54kg weight class as each of the top four seeds boast international experience. Among that 54kg division is Kayla Gomez, who secured a gold medal at the 2024 USA Boxing International Invitational in Pueblo, Colo., in April.
