Gulf
President#
Serving as the president of the Gulf LBC would be a great opportunity to express and display my love for the kids and community. In additional to being part of a CDM spending time in the gym and around boxing, I have organized and ran serval successful events from shows to tournaments, and serve as match maker for others. I have served as a AAU Basketball coach for 9 years; Vice President of the Klein Forest Booster Club; Owner of Sparks Accounting est. 2004; CFO of CDM for 7 years; and owner of Spark Your Imagination a non-profit for kids. I have my degree in Accounting with additional class in business management. I am extremally organized, have a servants heart, and loves providing solutions for issues small or large.
I’ve been a member of USA Boxing for over 10 years. My background is in finances, working as a manager at a credit union for 30 years. I have attended over 20 National events and volunteered as an official for over 7 years as a judge, administrator, ESS tech or ESS tech trainer. I’ve attended over 45 seminars and help conduct local clinics.
I’m interested in serving as a board member to continue serving the members and community through a sport that is unbiased, diverse and life changing. I believe in the mission of USA Boxing, to promote, grow and inspire. It takes patience, determination, love and a passion for a sport that many do not approve of or understand. These are qualities that I have and will continue to exemplify with all members of the Gulf Association and USA Boxing. I have served on the board of directors for over 8 years and have helped improve many processes and procedures. I want to continue to work on growing the LBC by educating coaches and boxers with seminars and assisting with funding to attend clinics and events.
In the past 3 years we have assisted over 200 boxers with per diems who participated in National events or regional. Although I work, I make myself available to our members to answer questions, deliver books, funds or visit a gym. I received my experience from opening and managing a gym for over 4 years with a group of experienced USA Boxing alumni’s. I’m currently not a member of a gym which gives me time to work on LBC projects, events, local shows and avoid any conflicts of interest.
I believe in the coaches and the work they do every day to help promote boxing by giving boxers the tools necessary to succeed. I love this sport and have learned so much and will continue to learn. If elected I will continue to help our LBC grow and make sure that our boxers are priority when making decisions.
Vice President#
My membership with USA boxing started in 1988 as a boxer for 10 years then later as an official. As an official, I have attended over 20 National events and worked as a referee, judge, ring captain, equipment manager, weigh master and administration team. I'm currently a USA Boxing clinician and have conducted several official clinics and mini clinics for officials, coaches, and boxers.
My background is in Operations management for over 10 years. This experience has helped me in time management, event planning, and develop strong training skills.
I'm interested in serving on the board of directors to continue assisting the Gulf Association members with events, training, education, and help direct boxers in right path of Olympic boxing. My experience at the National level has helped me in serving the Gulf Association with procedures, management and structuring. The Gulf Association is a highly regarded LBC all over the nation, bringing in many boxers, officials and coaches to participate in our events. I will continue to make myself available to boxers and coaches with mentoring, visiting their gym and answering any questions or concerns they may have. We sponsored more boxers at National and Regional events in the past 6 years than before. I believe in the statement "Boxing is the sport of Redemption", every boxer should be treated the same, with the upmost respect given all the same opportunities. By not being a member a gym, that has afforded me time to meet with boxers, coaches, conduct clinics and assist them with other requests.
If elected, I will make sure more clinics are conducted for boxers, coaches and officials. As a team, we will continue to make our boxers our number one priority, giving them more opportunities to participate in National events with more funding and giving them more resources. The Gulf will continue to grow and keep the respect we have earned.
I started boxing in 1986. I boxed for the US Army from 1986 until 1994. In 1995 I opened J&T Boxing club after I got out of the military. I was with South Texas boxing association until I moved to Houston in 2004. I joined the gulf association and have been with this association til present. Both of my sons were U S champions in 2004. I was named outstanding coach of the tournament. I have been a level 3 coach for over 15 years. I am the chairman of the coaches committee of the gulf association. I am excited about possibly becoming the vice president of the gulf association.
