Arizona
President#
Run-offs: Seferino Rodriquez and Froy Guillen
Would like to run for president for the Arizona LBC 48 establish a better relationship with all the club members in The Arizona LBC bring back honesty and integrity to the position we’ve had for leader ship in the recent years being involved with the USA boxing for many years
Im from Detroit I started boxing at 8 at 17 I went to the ARMY and boxed there... I came home in 1988 and start helping kids back at the gyms I came up in Johnson rec center and KRONK. I did not get my first passport back to train boxers until 1995 back in those days the old school trainers would not let you train boxers until they thought you were ready. You had to have a mentor back then Mr.Bill Miller was my mentor Mr.Miller took me to the pro game and I was working with Pros from 2003 until 2017 In 2018 I met a young man in Az having a ruff personal life so I start working with him I suggest he have at least one amateur match he won and I just keep going from there with young kids. But then I seen how the LBC here in AZ was in bad shape and I knew I needed to do more or at least try to help these young Boxers out coming from Michigan I know how a good LBC is ran... So whoever becomes President please understand its not about YOU!!! Its about the athletes!!!! And not just your gym or who you like!!! its about THE LBC!!!!
"40 years total 10 years as an Arizona athlete, 12 years as an assistant boxing coach, 18 years as Head coach of Rodriguez Boxing Club 501c3.
32 years as a Mechanical Design Engineer with NXP Semiconductor.
I'm very patient, I listen to all information before I make a decision.
Arizona USA Boxing needs consistent support for its athletes, coaches and officials on many levels. The athletes, coaches and officials need to be treated with dignity and respect both female and male equally. The sole purpose of the LBC is to support the athletes, coaches and officials. As a board member providing support with clear and concise information would be a priority. Transparency should be an essential component for decisions making for the LBC, financial support for travel needs to be a focus. A democratic process with equal support for our athletes, coaches and boxing gyms is best practice. Financial support should not be a decision of one board member.
The Board will focus on the sport of boxing and Arizona LBC with highest level of integrity. I will make myself fully available to answer questions at the local competitions with an established centralized boxing gym location. No more political or individual agendas. All resources will be focused on Arizona LBC and not take away from it.
Arizona LBC is falling behind. The mentality needs to change from 'This is how it's always been done' to embracing new ideas, concepts, fundraising, shared information on training techniques, and officiating so that our athletes and coaches can compete at the National and International level. "
"My name is Heath Kerley and I am interested in the President position to elevate the amateur boxing here in Arizona to a new level.
I own Old School Boxing in Phoenix Arizona for the past 7 years. We have developed a successful amateur program at Old School. We have also put on a few amateur shows over the last couple of years and have been very successful. I also spearheaded the development of a collegiate boxing club program at Grand Canyon University. We are beginning our third year GCU.
I received my bachelor and masters degree in business administration from Arizona State University. I have run multiple businesses as well as held corporate executive positions in my past giving me the experience to be able to run the Arizona LBC. I have stayed in community for more than 30 years and look forward to developing an exceptional amateur program.
I believe I’ve been in USA Boxing long enough to be able to make a difference for the young amateur boxers that we have in our state. We have some exceptional kids and I believe with the proper guidance we could take the sport from great to amazing in Arizona. "
"With Everything that has happened in Arizona, I believe it is time for someone young who is willing to listen, help, and most importantly create opportunity. For too long Arizona has been served by a President who only wanted things his way or the highway with no regards rules, regulations, and polices. There are many things that can be done different in order to have a more successful and united LBC, but at the same time following the policies and procedures. We do not need someone who only retracts to old habits or yet alone police and control everything. Talking with our members and understanding their needs has to be a priority in order to bring the boxing community together. There is a strong young core of upcoming members from boxers, coaches, and officials that will help Arizona reach higher standards and have a brighter future. I strongly believe I can be that person who can lead Arizona on the correct Direction. I understand that people will not always agree to things but we can always compromise as long as its within the bylaws and policies set in place.
I also understand it has been a rough year with everything that has happened, however there is only one person responsible for that and USA Boxing has made it clear who it is. That person acted on his own without the consent of anyone and is now being held accountable for his poor decision making. More information will be shared later by USA Boxing as long as it does not disrupt the investigation. With this being said please do not vote based on the rumors but vote based on the facts. I look forward to earning your vote and trust, and making Arizona one of the best LBC, thank you. "

I have participated in amateur boxing LBC 48 for a period of 30+ years as either a Coach, Referee, Judge, Chief of Officials and Officials Clinician. My main concern is to help elevate adolescent athletes to become more complete contributing citizens. I believe giving these individuals something to strive for, will give them sense of self worth, confidence which is important to becoming productive adults. I would like to think I have made a difference in some of these youths lives.

Secretary #
Having been involved with USA Boxing as either a Coach, Referee, or Judge for 30+ years, as well as Interim Chief of Officials for the past 2 years, I can honestly say this is my passion and my contribution to help mold and maintain continuing leadership, confidence, dignity and morale and pride among young athletes. Makes me proud to see these young individuals achieve their dreams whether it is to go professional as either a boxer or an educator which some of my students have actually become.

"As Treasurer of the Arizona LBC we were able help athletes go to national tournaments that fitted the criteria for financial help. Something that most athletes never knew that existed from past LBC's or treasures. The money in the LBC is meant to be used for athletes and LBC needs not for individual purpose or self satisfaction. There were many ideas that I had for good use of the funds however it was not always welcomed by our LBC Members and I alone could not pass any vote. However this did not stop me from putting in money out of my own pocket in order to give back to the boxing community. For example last December I had a Christmas tournament where with the help of sponsors we had live music for people, passed out gifts both days to all the kids and great awards. It was a very welcomed event by everyone. Now if voted once again treasure I will make sure Arizona has more events like these as long as I can count on all board members votes.
Once again truly understand it has been a rough year with everything that has happened, however there is only one person responsible for that and USA Boxing has made it clear who it is. That person acted on his own without the consent of anyone and is now being held accountable for his poor decision making. More information will be shared later by USA Boxing as long as it does not disrupt the investigation. With this being said please do not vote based on the rumors but vote based on the facts. I'm a young coach that wants to see Arizona grow and give the kids the best experience in the Amateur boxing world of USA. I have run my own business for 14yrs now so have experience of how money works and making goals.
Chief of Officials#
Winner by Acclamation (Ran unopposed)
The chief of officials duties now are to insure all officials are registered and certified as well as assigning the OIC for each show. My “apprenticeship” under Richard Soto has given me the experience to properly do this job.
We have seen as nice uptick in the number of registered officials in recent months. I want to continue growing our numbers and elevating officials to the next level.
