USA Boxing Board of Directors Announces a Committed Membership Communication Plan
PITTSBURGH, PA. – The USA Boxing Board of Directors, who is newly seated as of Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, concluded their second full day of meetings with a renewed message and commitment to the membership and the many constituents. The board’s first action is to increase the membership communication to instill a connection back into the important grassroots of the program.
The 10-member group appreciates the presence of all members at the 2006 Annual Membership Meeting and thanks you for your dedication in being a part of this major change in governance. The immediate business acumen will be focused on the athlete programs in developing on the international scene as well as developing the athlete pipeline in the United States. This inspired devotion to athletes will enable the Board to develop and recommend the necessary policies in re-building the USA Boxing program and brand.
Over the next several months, the Board will continue to inform the USA Boxing membership of its decisions. “We realize change is difficult and hard, and we will continue to communicate on a regular basis,” said the USA Boxing Board of Directors. “Additional announcements about the proper process of communication will be released.”
One of the key principles of this new governance structure is a proper reporting of information from and to the membership. This will lead the organization to a rebound of success on all platforms. It is important to clarify the proper channels at the National Headquarter Staff on how to correspond. The basic ideals of this restructure are to enable the USA Boxing staff in the decision-making operations to better serve all members through streamlining all processes and operating in a more efficient business model.
The new USA Boxing Board of Directors includes: Jim Beasley (Hutchinson, Kan.); Robert Blaha (Colorado Springs, Colo.); Angel Bovee (New York, N.Y.); Thomas Coulter (Syracuse, N.Y.); Kevin Franklin (McDonough, Ga.); Andy Geiger (Port Angeles, Wash.); Boyd Melson (Colorado Springs, Colo.); Alan Rothenberg (Los Angeles, Calif.); David Swavey (Wylie, Texas) and Dr. Thomas Virgets (Annapolis, Md.).
