Everlast Worldwide, Inc., has signed on as USA Boxing's official equipment and apparel sponsor, extending their current agreement, which previously covered only USA Boxing's equipment needs. The agreement will run through the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England with all USA Boxing teams showcasing Everlast apparel throughout the four-year deal.
"Amateur boxing is at the very core of Everlast's authenticity, and we are fully dedicated to helping the sport grow at the grassroots level," stated Matt Cowan, VP of Marketing and Product for Everlast.
USA Boxing and its athletes are thrilled at the opportunity to work with boxing's elite brand. "We are extremely pleased to continue our relationship with Everlast," USA Boxing President Tom Virgets said. "Everlast has been synonymous with boxing since 1910, and USA Boxing is proud to wear the brand that is recognized in over 100 countries throughout the world."
"USA Boxing is one of the most iconic Olympic sports and it is very important to us as a company that we continually help in developing the program," added Adam Geisler, President of Everlast. "Through better equipment and enhanced marketing efforts, we believe Everlast can play a vital role in supporting and regaining USA Boxing's prominence in the 2012 Olympic Games."
Everlast has been a long-time equipment sponsor of USA Boxing and the nation's top Olympic-style boxers, but the addition of the apparel piece adds a new level of support for the United States' Olympic hopefuls. The partnership was previewed at the recent USA Boxing National Championships with the finalists in the junior division and men's and women's open classes all wearing Everlast apparel in the championship round.
USA Boxing will showcase their new apparel sponsor at the 2009 World Championships, September 1-12 in Milan, Italy, with all 11 team members and the coaching staff being outfitted in Everlast gear and equipment.
In addition, Everlast will provide the top two open division men in each of the 11 weight divisions with an Athlete Equipment Kit, in an effort to help the United States' top boxers train with world-class equipment in their home gyms.
