USA Boxing Statement on National Team Stipends

USA Boxing is pleased to announce that the current national team stipends in place for the number one and two finishers in the men's division at the 2009 USA Boxing National Championships will continue through June of 2010 with assistance from the United States Olympic Committee. 

In addition, the top two finishers in the open men's weight divisions in the 2010 USA Boxing National Championships will receive training stipends as well with the winner receiving $1,000 per month and the runner-up receiving $500 per month. For the first time, the finalists in the three open women's divisions, which will be contested in Olympic competition will receive training stipends from the USOC as well. The top two finishers in those three weight divisions, which are the flyweight (48 - 51kg), lightweight (56 - 60kg) and middleweight (69 - 75kg) classes, will receive the same monthly stipends as their male counterparts. 

The 2010 USA Boxing National Championships will take place July 12-17 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

 

USA Boxing, as the national governing body for Olympic-style boxing, is the United States' member organization of the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) and a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). It is responsible for the selection and management of the United States Olympic Boxing Team, and for the governance and oversight of USA Boxing's national organization of 38,000 members, 1,400 individual boxing clubs, and 1,600 sanctioned events annually.
